Hello Families and Teachers! Today, I’m excited to share a resource I created to help young learners take their first steps in sentence writing. As a teacher, I know that introducing sentence structure can be challenging, especially at the start when children are just learning to identify words and make sense of them. That’s why I put together these Writing Sentences Activity Worksheets, designed specifically to make sentence building both fun and effective!
What’s Included in These Worksheets?
Each page features a word table, organized into categories like articles, adjectives, nouns, verbs, and adverbs, so children can pick words from each group and create their own sentences. It’s amazing to watch them come up with funny, descriptive, or even silly sentences as they experiment with language!
I also included two important steps to support comprehension and creativity:
- Write the Complete Sentence: This helps them practice handwriting and understand how a sentence is put together.
- Illustrate the Sentence: Kids absolutely love this part! They get to bring their sentence to life with a drawing, which helps reinforce both understanding and creativity.

Who is This Resource For?
This set is perfect for kindergarten, first, and second graders, as well as young English learners (ESL). It works beautifully in classroom settings but is also adaptable for homeschool routines and virtual learning. I’ve even seen children light up when they share their sentences in online classes!
I personally enjoy using these worksheets as part of morning literacy activities or in reading centers. It’s a print-and-go resource that makes sentence creation an interactive, hands-on experience.
I hope this resource brings as much excitement to your students or children as I’ve seen in mine. Writing becomes so much more enjoyable when creativity is at the heart of it!
