The stomach is an organ that belongs to the digestive system. The stomach’s function is to deal with the breakdown of food and process it so that it passes more quickly to the next organ of the digestive system.

What Is The Stomach

The stomach is located between the esophagus and the small intestine, right in the middle of both.

The upper part of the stomach is responsible for regulating the passage of food, which comes directly from the esophagus, preventing the food bolus (mixture of food and output) from returning upwards. In the lower part of the stomach, food passes from the already processed stomach, into the small intestine, for the next step in the digestive process.
