The endocrine system consists of a set of glands responsible for the production and secretion of vital substances for the proper functioning of our body, which is called hormones.
Hormones do their job through the blood as they travel through circulation. Being transported by the bloodstream and circulating through veins and arteries, hormones can reach the tissues of the organs where they will carry out their mission, regulating and modifying some of their functions.
Hormones have many different specific functions. Some of them are, for example, regulating metabolism, growth, or even the temperature of our body.
