Chemistry is a branch of science that aims to study matter’s structure, composition, and properties in general. In short, it is based on the study of matter.
Chemistry is closely related to other aspects of matter, such as energy and reactions, which in this case, may end up being chemical reactions. We will explain this to you a little later.
Chemistry is located among the great contemporary sciences. It is a highly relevant science; thanks to its discovery, it could take the industrialization era.
Branches of Chemistry
Chemistry is a science that, to be fully understood, must be studied through its various branches or areas, which are:
- Organic Chemistry is responsible for the study of compounds found in life forms. Mainly carbon and hydrogen.
- Inorganic Chemistry: studies compounds that are not found in life forms.
- Physicochemistry: the study of the physical bases concerning chemistry. It is related to physics.
- Biochemistry: deals with chemistry in living beings, that is, in constant relationship with biology.
- Analytical chemistry is characterized by detecting and quantifying the elements that make up a particular sample.
- Industrial chemistry: refers to the use of chemistry to solve everyday life situations. It is also known as “applied chemistry.”
- Astrochemistry: is related to astrophysics. It is in charge of the study of the stars.
