A plateau is a large area of flat land raised high above the ground around it. Plateaus, or grasslands, are present on every continent and take up a third of the Earth’s land.
Plateaus are one of the four significant landforms along with mountains, plains, and hills. We can find examples of plateaus in Yellowstone National Park (United States) or the Massif Central (France).
