All scientific research must start from a hypothesis intended to be demonstrated. A hypothesis is an assumption that can be tested by scientific investigation. They are part of the formulation of the problem and establish possible relationships between different variables. The hypotheses specify possible characteristics and results that may exist between certain variables to be studied.
The scientific method is the system through which researchers try to verify the validity or veracity of a hypothesis or more than one. A scientific investigation will try to demonstrate the validity of the main hypothesis, which is a working hypothesis.
The general or theoretical hypotheses serve to establish a relationship between the variables. In contrast, the working and alternative hypotheses are the ones that quantify this relationship. The working hypotheses can be: attributive, causal, and associative. The null hypothesis determines that there is no relationship between the variables.
