The skin is the largest organ of the body. Its main function is to protect the body from external factors such as bacteria, chemicals, and temperature.
The skin is made up of three layers:
- Epidermis: First layer (outside our bodies), which is continually being regenerated because it is covered by dead cells; they protect the body against the outside world.
- Dermis: Second layer made of collagen fibers; they keep the skin strong and flexible.
- Hypodermis: Third layer which provides backup and support.
