Predator or Prey: A Simple Cut-and-Paste Science Activity! Need a quick, engaging way to teach about food chains? This Predator or Prey Sorting Worksheet is one of my favorite go-tos during our life science unit.
Students read short descriptions like “This animal hunts at night” or “This one stays in a herd for protection,” then decide if it describes a predator or prey. They cut, sort, and glue each piece into the correct category.
It’s simple, but super effective for:
- Building science vocabulary
- Practicing reading comprehension
- Encouraging critical thinking
I’ve used it in centers and as an independent activity—it always gets my students thinking and talking! Perfect for grades 2 to 4, and it comes with an answer key to make things even easier.
Could this fit into your next science block? Let me know how you’d use it!
