When do kids learn numbers from 1 to 10?
Learning numbers from 1 to 10 is a process that doesn’t belong to a particular age. Since children are newborns they are learning information about the world and their environment. A good early childhood stimulation will develop many skills in the children, such as, number sense development.
First, children learn to count. Learning numbers It is important to incorporate counting in their daily routine, so they can get familiarised with numbers. Then, they learn the quantity concept. That is the moment in which they are able to compare and see the differences between quantities.

When do children learn math skills?
- 0-12 months: cause and effect relations, small/big concepts and can understand words related to quantities.
- 1-2 years: know basic shapes and start to recite numbers.
- 3-4 years: compare and contrast height or size, recognize more shapes, sort things by color and can count up to 20.
- 4-5 years: can follow directions, can add by counting their fingers on one hand and can follow basic maps.
- 6-7 years: can distinguish between 2D and 3D shapes, can count to 100 and can do basic addition and subtraction.
- 8-9 years: can do basic multiplication and division and can solve word problems.
- 9-10 years: have developed a number sense and general math skills to solve problems and play math games.
