The human skin consists of three main layers.
- Epidermis: It is the outermost layer and acts as a protective barrier.
- Dermis: Located beneath the epidermis, it contains blood vessels, nerves, and structures such as hair follicles.
- Hypodermis: It is the innermost layer, mainly composed of adipose tissue that provides thermal insulation and a protective cushion.
These layers work together to provide essential functions such as thermal regulation, protection against infections, and sensory perception.
