An island is a body of land surrounded by water. Islands are smaller than continents but bigger than isles. Islands can be formed in several ways, such as clashing continents, sediment deposition or glacial retreat.
Most islands are formed from volcano eruptions (like Canary islands). Greenland is the largest island of the planet. The island is situated between northeast of Canada and northwest of Iceland
