An earthquake or tremor is an intense shaking of Earth’s surface caused by activity movements in Earth’s outermost layer. Earthquakes result from sudden movement along faults within the planet Earth.
One of the most famous faults in the American continent is San Andreas Fault, in California. Seismologists estimate the fault is capable of a magnitude 8.2 earthquake.
