There are four types of interrogative sentences or questions: Yes or no questions, Wh- questions, Choice questions and Tag questions. Below you can find the definitions of every interrogative sentence type and some examples to can understand them better.
Interrogative Sentences Examples

  • Yes or no questions: these sentences can be answered with a simple “yes” or “no”.
    • Example: Do you have homework?
  • Wh- questions: these sentences use WH- words (who, what, where, when, why, how, how many, etc.) to begin the question.
    • Example: What is your favorite sport?
  • Choice questions: these are questions that offer a choice of several options as an answer.
    • Example: Do you prefer coffee or tea?
  • Tag questions: this type of question is also made up of two parts, where the first part is a positive statement, and the second part is negative (or the contrary).
    • Example: You are getting married, aren’t you?
