What are fractions for kids?
A fraction is a number that expresses equal parts of a whole object. Fractions have two parts: numerator and denominator. Numerator represents how many fraction pieces you have. Denominator represents how many fraction pieces your whole is broken into.
Let’s have a look at the following example: A pizza could be a whole object. The pizza is a whole which is divided into eight slices. When you eat a slice of pizza, you’re eating one eighth (1/8) of the pizza. Every slice represents one eighth (1/8) of the pizza.
