Hey Teachers! We’ve created a new educational resource for your class. A class contract is an agreement made between learners and the teacher to follow certain rules and standards. It applies to both the learners and the teacher, and is drawn up at the beginning of the course. You can use a class contract at the beginning of the school year, when returning from a long break (Christmas holidays, for instance), at the beginning of a new unit or when students are not following the rules.
For a proper use of the class contract, we suggest you to follow these steps:
- Ask for students’ ideas for rules, prohibitions and rewards.
- Summarize students’ ideas and choose the most important ones.
- Write the rules in the contract template.
- Review the rules with your students.
- You may hang the contract on the wall.
