Hey super teachers! Here you have a new educational resource for your science classes. It is important to teach the classification of plants when you are a Science teacher. Here you can find a complete bundle with theory explanations and some worksheet to practice the content.
As you know, we can classify plants into two groups: flowering plants and non-flowering plants.
How can we classify plants? Explanation for kids.
Flowering plants have organs like flowers, fruits and seeds that help them to reproduce. They can be classified into two groups:
- Angiosperms: They are plants that grow fruit with seeds. The seeds are found inside the fruit, like in apple trees.
- Gymnosperms: They are plants that have seed but do not have fruit. For instance, in pine trees, the pine cone is not a fruit, it is a flower.
Non-flowering plants do not have seeds. They reproduce through spores. Spores are tiny cells that germinate and grow into a new plant. They can be classified into two groups:
- Ferns: Ferns have roots, leaves and stems. Fern spores are formed on the underside of the leaves.
- Mosses: Mosses do not have roots, leaves or stems. Moss spores are produced in capsules which are at the end of the filaments.
At the end of this post, you will find a link to download a PDF file with the bundle. It is, as always, a free resource with high quality pictures. In this bundle you will also find the following worksheet for writing definitions and coloring:
