Parasitism is a form of symbiotic relationship in which one species, called the parasite, benefits at the expense of another species, known as the host, which is harmed.
The parasite relies on the host for its survival and obtains resources such as food, shelter, or reproduction at the expense of the host, which suffers damage or disease.
A common example is the tick and the dog. The tick attaches to the dog’s skin and feeds on its blood, causing discomfort and even transmitting diseases to the host.
